About the Club
The aim of Lincoln Wheelers is to promote cycling as a social, recreational and competitive activity with a high regard for well-being and safety.
The Club has members of all ages and membership is open to anyone wishing to apply. Under 16's are directed to the Go-Ride section of the club (further details can be found here), whilst 16-18 year olds can ride with adults, provided parental/guardian consent is provided. The club is affiliated to a number of national cycling organisations: CTT (Cycling Time Trials), BC (British Cycling) , CTC and BCCA (British Cyclo Cross Association)
These take place from March to October each year with a Spring and an Autumn 5 mile time trial league plus a 10 mile and a 25 mile time trial league during the Summer months. The league events are interspersed by 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 50 mile championships, team time trials, hill climb, road race and cyclocross. There are also special events for tandems and tricycles.
Recreational and Training Activities
Sunday morning club runs take place throughout the year. The distance covered varies during the year (typically 40 miles) and there may be a split into faster and slower groups according to the turn out on the day. From October to March, weekly indoor fitness training sessions (circuit training) are held, suitable for all ages and levels of fitness.
After the competitive events, it is the practice to stay and have a chat over a snack and a drink. The club holds an annual dinner and presentation of awards at the end of each season and, during the year, there will be various social activities such as a summer barbeque, quiz nights, skittles evening, downhill freewheeling, treasure hunt and trips to a Velodrome.
If you would like to join us, or are just thinking about it, please get in touch via the contact page. We encourage prospective new members to come along to a couple of club rides to get a feel for what we do - don't be shy!
If you do enjoy it, membership is only £15 per annum (payable 1st Jan) for first claim members and the same for second claim members.
