Open Time Trial Events
The club affiliates to the CTT (Cycling Time Trials). Each year a handbook is produced detailing all of the ‘open’ events that clubs
throughout the country are running (also on www.ctt.org.uk). These events tend to be more often run over a weekend, but in summer,
some mid week events are held.
CTT’s most recent version of Entry Form has to be fully completed and submitted to the Organiser by the closing date and with the entry fee
(as detailed in the Handbook). Most open events have a limit of 120 riders, and the Organiser normally accepts the fastest riders if they are
over-
appropriately coded, or there are notes (eg: slowest 120 riders accepted, etc).
For 2008 events, the Lincolnshire District of the CTT produced for the first time a mini Handbook which gave all the same information as in
the national version, but just for Lincolnshire events, but also including every club event as well as open. This is being continued for 2010
and the cost is £1. The Lincoln Wheelers contact for this is Theresa Brewer (robertandtheresa@aol.com)
LRRA Time Trial Events
The Lincolnshire Road Riding Association is as it sounds, a regional organisation comprising CTT affiliated clubs in the boundaries of ‘original’
Lincolnshire. The Lincoln Wheelers affiliates to the LRRA.
Each year the LRRA runs a series of events that have to be entered as in the procedure above for open events. Lincoln Wheelers can
enter the ‘LRRA’ event itself as we are affiliated, members of clubs outside the area can still enter the ‘open’ event, but they are not eligible
for LRRA awards.
There are 10, 25, 30 and 50 mile time trials, a 2 Up team time trial, and a Middlemarkers 25 mile (for those having not been faster than 1 hour
over the distance in the past 3 seasons). In this particular event Lincolnshire riders who do not qualify for the Middlemarkers can still
compete in the ‘open’ one. There is also an award at this event for the Longmarker (having previously not been faster than 1:04:00 in the
last 3 seasons).
Since 2006 there has been a club league within the LRRA based on a points system awarded for entries, finishers, and extra points for the
first 10 finishers.
There are 37 perpetual trophies that can be won within the LRRA, plus awards that are given for the 3 fastest, for vet on standard, and on
handicap, together with the first junior, juvenile and woman, as well as team awards.
There are also Long and Short Distance BARs (Best All Rounder) competitions for seniors, women, and vet on standard, plus a BAR for
junior and juvenile.
Where the LRRA does not run the appropriate distance events required for the BAR competitions (that is, 100 mile and 12 hour), then any
open event in GB can count.
For further details on the special procedure on how to qualify for the LRRA 100 mile and 12 hour, details on the criteria for each BAR, and
for any other information on the LRRA, the contact is Theresa Brewer (robertandtheresa@aol.com), also see the LRRA website http://community.lincolnshire.gov.uk/LRRA/
The LRRA organise a 25 Middlemarkers, 2 Up, 25 Champs, 50 Champs, 10 Champs and a 30 Champs during the year. For dates click here
